The programme of the 4th International Conference of Young Specialists Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art extended over four days, from 21 to 24 November 2013. The principal sessions were held in the Shuvalov Building of Lomonosov Moscow State University, with Russian and English as the working languages.

21 November — opening day

Registration was followed by a plenary session combining broad questions in contemporary art history with studies of ancient, medieval, Russian, and modern art. The day concluded with the opening of the Arbeitskollektiv poster exhibition.

22 November — parallel sessions

The first day of parallel meetings brought together four fields: the art of the ancient world and the medieval East; Russian art from the eighteenth to the early twentieth century; twentieth-century Western art and art theory; and Eastern Christian and medieval Russian art.

23 November — Russian and Western European art

Parallel sessions examined Russian art of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries and Western European art of the medieval and modern periods. A closing discussion followed the final papers.

24 November — contemporary culture and Moscow architecture

The concluding day included a visit to the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture and scholarly walking tours devoted to Moscow's avant-garde and Stalinist architecture.
