EN The programme of the 8th International Conference Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art extended over five days, from 2 to 6 October 2018. Sessions were held in the Shuvalovsky Building of Lomonosov Moscow State University and at the State Tretyakov Gallery's venues in Lavrushinsky Lane and on Krymsky Val.
2 October — opening
MSU, Shuvalovsky Building. Registration and the welcome began at 13:30, followed by the plenary session from 14:00 to 17:00.
3 October
- MSU, 10:00–19:00: Eastern Christian Art, Western European Medieval Art, Renaissance Art, and Oriental Art;
- New Tretyakov Gallery, 10:00–17:30: the first day of Modern and Contemporary Art.
4 October
- MSU, 10:00–19:00: the first day of Art of the Ancient World, Byzantine Art, and Early Modern European Art;
- Tretyakov Gallery in Lavrushinsky Lane, 10:00–18:00: Eighteenth-Century Russian Art;
- New Tretyakov Gallery, 10:00–18:00: the second day of Modern and Contemporary Art.
5 October
- MSU, 10:00–19:00: the second day of Art of the Ancient World, Russian Medieval Art, Theory of Art, and “Art. Space”;
- Tretyakov Gallery in Lavrushinsky Lane, 10:00–18:00: Nineteenth-Century Russian Art and the Academic Tradition;
- New Tretyakov Gallery, 12:00–18:00: the first day of “Challenges in Displaying Modern and Contemporary Art Collections”.
6 October — closing day
New Tretyakov Gallery, 12:00–18:00. The second day of “Challenges in Displaying Modern and Contemporary Art Collections” concluded the conference programme.
The special session examined international approaches to displaying modern and contemporary art, including exhibition architecture and narrative, collecting policies, and the museum's engagement with the historical conflicts of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.
