Applications for the 12th International Academic Conference Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art are now closed.
The selection results will be announced on 30 August 2026. Priority will be given to proposals that present substantial new research, contribute meaningfully to the conference themes, and help form coherent thematic groups within the planned sessions. Applications are not peer-reviewed, and individual reasons for rejection will not be provided.
The schedule of conference sessions is expected on 14 September, followed by the detailed programme on 1 October 2026.
Applicants are kindly asked to follow the website for updates. Further information will be published as the session structure and conference programme are finalised.

According to Scopus data for 2023, Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art ranked first among Russian publications in the Conservation category. The publication had been indexed in this category since 2023.
It was also represented in the Visual Arts and Performing Arts and History categories within Arts and Humanities. All volumes are available in the publication’s current online archive.

Volume 13 of Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art has been published. Its 915 pages bring together 67 articles in eleven thematic sections by 83 authors from Russia, Armenia, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, Greece, Italy, Iran, and France.
Volume 13 (2023) is available on the publication website; a printed edition was also produced.

In January 2023, the editorial team revised the manuscript guidelines for Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art. Authors were asked to provide ORCID and SPIN/RSCI identifiers, while the formatting examples were expanded for clarity.

On 16 December 2022, the Diaghilev Museum of Contemporary Art at St Petersburg University opened Rhymed Days, an exhibition of paintings by the St Petersburg artist Vik, Vyacheslav Zabelin (1953–2016).
Vik’s 2003 painting Escape to St Petersburg served as the emblem of the third Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art conference in 2012. The exhibition continued a series devoted to artists whose works had accompanied different conference editions. The 2012 conference archive page provides further context.

The editorial board invited submissions for Volumes 13 (2023) and 14 (2024) of Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art. Papers based on presentations at the 10th conference, held at Lomonosov Moscow State University in October 2022, were accepted until 1 February 2023.

In spring 2022, the exhibition hall in St Petersburg University’s Twelve Collegia building presented paintings by Vyacheslav Mikhailov, the artist whose work became the emblem of the fifth Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art conference in 2015.
The exhibition was organised by the University’s Diaghilev Museum of Contemporary Art with the participation of art history students. The 2015 conference archive page gives the context for the emblem.

In spring 2022, the Twelve Collegia building of St Petersburg University hosted a solo exhibition by Oleg Liagatchev-Helgi. The artist had created the emblem for the first Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art conference in 2010.
