In autumn 2020, the editorial board opened a call for papers for Volumes 11 (2021) and 12 (2022) of Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art. Submissions were accepted until 1 February 2021, while the next conference was being planned for 2022 in Moscow.
That call is now closed. Authors should consult the current submission guidance on the publication website before preparing a manuscript.

Tatiana Valerianovna Ilina, Honorary Professor of St Petersburg University, a leading figure in the St Petersburg school of art history, and a teacher to several generations of scholars, died on 26 October 2020 at the age of 86.
She graduated from Leningrad State University in 1956 and began teaching there in 1967. From 1996 to 2011, she headed the Department of Art History, later the Department of the History of Russian Art. Her scholarship made a fundamental contribution to the study of eighteenth-century Russian art.
Having begun her research with medieval Russian illuminated manuscripts, Professor Ilina later turned to the art of the eighteenth century. Her doctoral dissertation on the life and work of Ivan Vishnyakov combined archival research with technical examination and stylistic and iconographic analysis. This integrated approach marked an important development in Russian art history.
Her lectures reached well beyond students of art history: for more than half a century she also taught at the Rimsky-Korsakov St Petersburg State Conservatory. She wrote nine monographs and twelve textbooks on Russian and Western European art and supervised around thirty candidate dissertations and three doctoral dissertations.
To her students and colleagues, Tatiana Ilina was not only a distinguished scholar and teacher but also a generous and attentive mentor. Her memory lives on in the work of her students and in the scholarly tradition she helped to shape.

Following the 8th conference, participants were invited to prepare articles for Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art. Manuscripts of up to 40,000 characters including notes, bibliography, abstracts, and supporting material were accepted until 1 February 2019.
The call is closed. New submissions should follow the current author guidelines and submission procedure published on the publication website.

Ivan Ivanovich Tuchkov (13 September 1956–22 September 2018), Professor of Art History, Dean of the Faculty of History at Lomonosov Moscow State University, Head of its Department of General Art History, and an Honorary Member of the Russian Academy of Arts, died on 22 September 2018. He chaired the organising committee of the Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art conference.
Professor Tuchkov’s entire academic career was closely connected with Moscow University. He graduated from its Faculty of History in 1978, completed his postgraduate studies, and began teaching in the Department of General Art History in 1981. He became head of the department in 2007 and dean of the faculty in 2015. In that role, he supported the development of academic programmes and closer cooperation between the University, research institutions, and museums.
His principal fields of research were the art of the Italian Renaissance and the culture of Rome from antiquity to the modern period, particularly the architecture and decoration of Renaissance villas and gardens. He combined broad humanistic learning with a keen sensitivity to works of art and an exceptional ability to communicate his subject to students, fellow scholars, and wider audiences.
For the conference community, Ivan Tuchkov was not only the chair of its organising committee but also a teacher, colleague, and friend. His commitment to open scholarly dialogue and his support for younger researchers remain part of the academic tradition carried forward by the conference.

In December 2016, Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art was accepted for indexing in Scopus. This marked an important step in making research by conference participants and publication authors more visible internationally.
