The programme of the 7th International Conference Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art extended over five days, from 11 to 15 October 2016. Parallel sessions were held at the State Hermitage Museum and St Petersburg State University; papers were allotted fifteen minutes.
11 October — opening day
The Hermitage Theatre. Registration from 9:30 to 11:00 was followed by the plenary session, which continued until 15:00. Ceremonial events marking the opening of the conference took place later that day.
12 October
From 10:00 to 19:30, the State Hermitage Museum and SPbU hosted parallel sessions on the art and artistic culture of the ancient world, Renaissance art, Eastern Christian art, eighteenth- and nineteenth-century Russian art, and art theory.
13 October
The day began with a guided visit to the Twelve Collegia building. From 11:00 to 20:30, sessions addressed “Museum: Collection, Space, Monument”, Oriental art, medieval Russian art, twentieth- and twenty-first-century Russian and international art, and Western European art of the modern age.
14 October — concluding sessions
The State Hermitage Museum and SPbU hosted the panel discussion “Museum: Shaping the Future” and sessions on Western European medieval art, cult and artistic culture, and applied art. Participants could join tours devoted to the Hermitage interiors and the history of its collections or visit the Gold Room. The official closing took place that evening in the atrium of the General Staff Building.
15 October — field seminars
The final day offered two thematic excursions: a seminar on the architecture, monumental painting, and museums of Veliky Novgorod, or a visit to the palaces and parks of Tsarskoye Selo, Pavlovsk, and Peterhof.
