EN The programme of the 2nd International Conference of Young Specialists Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art extended over four days, from 24 to 27 November 2011. The principal sessions were held at the Faculty of History of Lomonosov Moscow State University, and the programme was presented in Russian and English.
24 November — opening day
The conference opened with a plenary meeting. Its papers ranged across ancient and Byzantine art, medieval Russian and European architecture, Russian art from the eighteenth to the twentieth century, and methodological questions in art history.
25 November — four thematic strands
Parallel sessions examined the art of the ancient world and the medieval East, eighteenth-century Russian art, Eastern Christian art, and Western art of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries.
26 November — Russian and Western European art
Sessions addressed medieval Russian art, Russian art of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, twentieth-century Russian art, and Western European art of the medieval and early modern periods. The day concluded with a closing discussion and the presentation of the first volume of Actual Problems of Theory and History of Art.
27 November — museum programme
The final day comprised academic visits to the Moscow Kremlin Museums and the State Tretyakov Gallery.
